I Kings 12:8-11. After Solomon died the nation of Israel divided. The ten tribes that were in the north aligned themselves under a man by the name of Jeroboam, and they became known as Israel. At the same time, the tribes of Judah and Benjamin down in the south were loyal to their leader Rehoboam, who was the son of Solomon, and they became known as Judah. We have two kings; one king that God anointed and one that Solomon appointed. Both prove to be woefully disappointing. But there is a king who comes after Rehoboam, the third king of Judah, the grandson of Solomon and whose name is Asa. In spite of the fact his father was a sinful man and his mother was a pagan, Asa becomes one of Judah’s most Godly kings. “Asa did what was right in the eyes of the Lord… Asa’s heart was fully committed to the Lord all his life.”  1 Kings 15:11,14.  From Asa we learn that You and I can choose what kind of a legacy we will leave behind.

We inherently feel the call to live for something bigger than ourselves, to become people who impact the world in a positive way. But many of us lack the faith to respond to that call. God is still using ordinary people to do extraordinary things for Him!
