“The Heart of Worship”: #2. Worshipping in Spirit and Truth. John 4:20-24. It is so easy to come to church and go through the motions. There’s a danger in rote repetition. People who do not have a growing personal relationship with the living God often focus on the externals of worship, but when a person has a vibrant sustaining relationship with the Lord they can worship God anywhere, at anytime under any circumstances. Worship in truth will center on Jesus, his life among us through the Holy Spirit and his Word through which we can be fed, challenged, and directed. What is spiritual worship? Fundamentally, it’s the offering of ourselves to the Lord.
“The Heart of Worship” Series: To Martha, worried and fussing over many pressing things, our Lord said, “…only a few things are necessary, really only one.” Luke 10:41. Worship is that one essential thing. Many of us are like Martha, distracted and too busy to sit at the Savior’s feet. The hectic pace of life only elevates the importance of active deliberate worship. In this sermon series, The Heart of Worship, Pastor Barry carefully and clearly sets forth the principles of worship – what it is, why it is so important, and how to do it in a way that is pleasing to the Lord. Blessings flow from authentic worship, for it is only when we experience the heart of worship that we can both plumb the depths and explore the heights of the abundant life Jesus came to give us.
