I Kings18:24. The prophet Elijah was sent with a warning about idolatry to King Ahab. The first two of the Ten Commandments deal with idolatry. There are more than a thousand verses that speak to it. It’s one of only four commandments that has the death penalty attached to it. So, it’s obvious God takes idolatry very seriously. Our hearts today haven’t changed that much from the hearts of those to whom the prophets were sent. Our idols just look a little different today. The question we need to ask ourselves is,“What holds the attention of your heart?” Whatever that is, that’s your idol. When God is not on the throne of our hearts…things are out of order…life doesn’t work the way it should. But when God’s in His rightful place, everything else starts to fall into place.
