Mark 2:13-17.  It’s been said that you can tell what a person is like by the company he keeps. “Birds of a feather, flock together”.  While there may be some truth in that, it’s not the whole truth. You have to consider the motives of people in the company they keep. It’s possible to seek out people’s company not because you like what they are or approve of what they do but because you hope to have some positive influence in their lives. Our text, Mark 2:13-17, is a drama in which there are three actors.  Pastor Barry asks, “Which of these actors do you most identify with?” and states that every one of us fits somewhere in this story. Are you like Matthew, the Pharisees or Jesus? He cautions, “Don’t answer too quickly, you may be surprised by the answer”.
