Dr. Barry D. Lovett
Pastor Barry accepted Christ as personal Lord and Savior and was baptized at the age of nine. He felt called into the ministry and was licensed to preach at the age of fifteen, and was ordained at the age of nineteen. He has been a pastor for 46 years; 20 of which have been as the Pastor of First Baptist Church of Honolulu.
Barry and Jody met while attending Judson University. The summer of 1975 they were both selected to represent the University on the Summer Reach Out Team CHRISMA. The following summer they were married. After graduation they traveled with a music group full-time for one year. Jody’s recording album, Blessed are the Children was produced by John Innes, accompanist for the Billy Graham Crusades.
Jody is retired from teaching music at Hawaii Baptist Academy where she also directed the Eagle Choir, and produced several spectacular Christmas, and other seasonal musicals.
The Lovett’s have three children, Brandon, also a graduate of Judson University, resides in Indiana with his wife Savanna. Nathaniel, a graduate of the University of Hawaii, resides in Michigan. He and his wife Sarah were married in July of 2019. They have a son, Jackson (3). Brianna, also a graduate from UH, resides in California with her husband Kolomona Wilson-Ku and their son Jordy (5) and daughter Ella (3). Both Brandon and Bri were married in November 2016.
Dr. Lovett is also on staff of The American Baptist Churches Los Angeles, Southwest and Hawaii as a Resource Minister for Hawaii.

FAVORITE THINGS
Music- all kinds, especially Hawaiian. TV Shows – Blue Bloods and the old black & white episodes of The Andy Griffith Show. Food – Seafood. Restaurant – Red Lobster. Drink – Pina-colada smoothie. Movies – Comedies. Pastime – The beach, mountains, Hawaiian sunsets, flowers.
