Adam’s disobedience in the garden of Eden put him at enmity with his Maker.  But God had a plan by which reconciliation could be made.  Because man had sinned, he must pay the price; yet in his depraved state he is absolutely incapable of doing this.  It would take a perfect man who was also divine to settle the eternal debt of the human race.  The Heavenly Father therefore sent His only begotten Son into the world to redeem humankind.  Through the miraculous work of the Holy Spirit, Jesus was virgin-born and thus remained untainted by Adam’s pollution and guilt.  After living  a perfect life, He “made peace through the blood of His cross” (Colossians 1:20), and rose victoriously over the grave.  He now imputes His righteousness to all who believe.  Christ was delivered for our sins that we might be delivered from our sins.
