Elston was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Honolulu where he was baptized, having accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior at a young age. He faithfully attended Sunday School, Youth Group Meetings and Worship Services for much of his short life. He sang in the choir and was also part of the worship team. Elston loved music; he played piano, guitar and especially loved to sing. He also composed music, occasionally sharing his songs with the congregation. He attended Roosevelt and St. Louis High Schools where He played football. He also attended Kalani High School where he was on the swim team. [MORE]

Ralph and Martha Lance

Martha, former Manager of the Billy Graham Evangelistic associations’ KAIM Bookstore and active in local and international religious circles, died of natural cause in Honolululu on January 6, 2009. She was 92. Raised in Kaka’ako. A graduate of Saint Andrew’s Priory School for Girls and the Honolulu Bible Training School, she dedicated her life to teaching.  She worked extensively with Child Evangelism Fellowship and served as Sunday School Superintendent at kaka’ako Mission, Kapahulu Bible Church and the First Baptist Churchof Honolulu.  Throughout her life, she quietly helped support numerous individuals, charitable organizations and overseas missions.

Jim and Louise Nikkel

Louise was born in 1931 to Louis and Annie MacPherson and grew up inVancouver, BC Canada. She married the love of her life, M. James Nikkel, in 1953. In 1964 they moved to Edmonds, Washington where they raised their four children. In 1983, once the nest was empty, Louise and Jim took flight to Honolulu. THE GUTHRIES

Loye was born in 1931 in St. Joseph, he died in Honolulu  October 1, 2013.  Loye was an electronic engineer and an Air Force veteran. He joined First Baptist Church of Honolulu sometime in the mid 1970’s.  He and his wife served on many boards and committees and sang in the choir.  Loye also sang on the worship team. After retiring from Hawaiian Air he served the church for awhile as the janitor He is survived by sons Loye Guthrie and Richard Morsch, daughter Suzanna Finley, hanai daughters Cynthia M. and Leanne M., sister Beverly O’Dell, six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
