“For by grace are you saved through faith.” Ephesians 2:8. “…now is the day of salvation.” II Corinthians 6:2. In today’s Scripture there are two important lessons…Works cannot save you and there’s danger in delay. Early one morning a fire broke out in a house. Flames were leaping high into the air. Suddenly a young man appeared at an upper window in his pajamas. Firemen quickly placed a ladder to rescue him but to their surprise he refused to come down shouting back that he had to get dressed first. The fireman pleaded, “Come as you are!” but to no avail. The man waited too long and perished in the fire. How much greater tragedy awaits all who refuse to “flee from the wrath to come.” Many reject God’s provision of salvation and safety because they want to get dressed up in the clothes of self-righteousness or religion. Their delay could cost them their souls. The Savior waits to receive you, but time is limited. Now is the day of salvation. Come as you are!
