“And the Lord said, I have surely seen the affliction of my people…for I know their sorrows.” Exodus 3:7. God is fully aware of our troubles and actually enters into our suffering with us.  Writing about the Lord’s compassionate interest in the sorrows of His people, the prophet Isaiah declared, “In all their affliction He was afflicted” (Isaiah 63:9). Inspired by this comforting thought, the hymn writer exclaims, “O yes, He cares I know He cares! His heart is touched with my grief.”  The Lord tenderly sympathizes with us in our hours of fearful anxiety and deepest need. What a comfort to know that the One who bore our sins also carries our sorrows.
