1Yr_Home_Pastor“[Jesus] made Himself of no reputation…coming in the likeness of men.” Philippians 2:7. Every Christmas Jody spends a lot of time wrapping presents. To her the presentation is part of what makes the gift meaningful. That makes me think of the wrapping Jesus chose when He came as the redemptive gift of our Heavenly Father. Jesus could have been wrapped in a mind-blowing show of power, lighting up the sky in a celestial show of glory.  Instead, He chose to wrap Himself “in the likeness of men”.  This wrapping is important because, being like us, He is no stranger to our struggles. He feels our pain, and as a result the writer of Hebrews tells us we can, “come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need” (Hebrews 4:16).  When you think of the gift of Jesus, remember the wrapping.
