“…the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us.” Romans 8:26. Often our prayers are thoughtlessly put together or are motivated by selfish considerations. But as we study God’s Word and seek to know His will, we can become sensitive to those things that are in keeping with His purposes for us. Sometimes we are at a loss for words because extenuating circumstances or extreme physical weakness make it impossible to utter anything intelligible. But the Lord understand and reads our hearts, and the Holy Spirit helps by interpreting our deepest longings before God’s throne. Your weakest sigh is carefully noted in Heaven and is worth more than a thousand wordy, superficial prayers. In praying, it’s better to let your heart be without words than your words be without heart!
