“I exhort, therefore, that…prayers…be made for all men, for kings, and for all that are in authority.” I Timothy 2:1-2. Many people will enjoy Memorial Day without giving any thought to the high price others paid to preserve freedom. For this reason, let’s pause right now and ponder what course history might have taken if thousands of servicemen and women had refused to make the supreme sacrifice. Truly this is a day to thank God for all who have made our country “the land of the free and the home of the brave.” But it is also a day to pray, for there’s no better way to preserve our liberty than to intercede for local, state, and national leaders. They’ve been ordained by God to maintain order and to execute justice. By petitioning the Lord on their behalf, we do great service to our nation and actually honor those who died to protect it. Let’s make this Memorial Day a day to honor our nation’s heroes by praying for our leaders!
