“Preach the Word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage – with great patience and careful instruction.” II Timothy 4:2. While there are many facets to the minister’s work, his most important duty is to preach the Word. If anything diverts him from that task, the spiritual lives of those who hear him each week are endangered. If your pastor faithfully studies the Bible, if he humbly tries to live by it, and if he lovingly and courageously declares its truth, stand behind him. Thank him for that needed rebuke or the timely blessing you received from his message. This will encourage him to stick to his central task of preaching the Word.
