“Let us search out and examine our ways and turn back to the Lord.” Lamentations 3:40. As followers of Christ, we sometimes do or say something that takes us off the path of faithful obedience. Before we can progress spiritually, we must confess our sin and then do what is right.  It was very difficult for David to admit that he had taken a wrong turn, but Psalm 32 tells us that he did.  He went back to admit his sins, confessed them before the Lord, and experienced His forgiveness. Then he was able to press forward with a clean heart.  You can’t put you sins behind you until you are ready to face them.
