“It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make a helper fit for him.” Genesis 2:18. The Bible tells us that after God’s creative work had been completed, He saw everything that He had made, and, behold, it was “very good” (Genesis 1:31). In striking contrast to this statement, we read that before Eve was created, God said to Adam, “It is not good that the man should be alone” (Genesis 2:18). Although the Lord was pleased with the world He had created, a vital element was missing. Adam was alone, and God declared that this was not as it should be. Every creature in the animal kingdom had its male or female counterpart. Only man lacked a companion after his own kind. So, God took a rib from Adam’s side and created Eve. Blessed are the homes where the wife is what God wants her to be – a true helper. Of all home remedies, a good wife is the best.
