“…your Father, who sees in secret, shall reward you openly.” Matthew 6:4. In Matthew 6, Jesus warned against performing pious deeds in order to receive the praise of others.  He said that when the hypocrites give alms, they sound a trumpet “…that they may have glory from men” (vs 2). If we serve for the recognition we get from others then that becomes our only reward.  How much better to receive the Lord’s commendation. Are you receiving your reward now – from men?  Or will you get it later – from God? There is no reward from God to those who seek it from men.
