“God also has highly exalted Him, giving Him a name which is above every name.” Philippians 2:9. The ascension of our Lord signifies three great spiritual truths. First, it tells us that the Savior is seated at God’s right hand as our Advocate. Second, it assures us that He, as the exalted Head of the church, is in charge of the universe. Third, it reminds us that He is in Glory today in a resurrected body like the one we shall receive someday. Our Savior went up to Heaven while His apostles watched intently, and the Bible records that event for our instruction and comfort. Jesus came into the world to talk to men for God; now He is in Heaven to talk to God for men.
