“Although He was a son, He learned obedience from what He suffered…” Hebrews 5:8. Christ Himself had to learn the real nature of obedience through suffering.  This suggests that I as His follower must experience the same thing if I am really to know what His Lordship is all about.  Such obedience will often be painful.  It may be frightening.  At times it will take our breath away.  But saying yes to the Lord in every circumstance is the only way to express fully our faith and love.  And nothing gives greater hope of future happiness than doing whatever He asks, even though we know it’s going to hurt.  It’s better to pay the price of obedience than the penalty of disobedience.
