“If the foundations are destroyed what can the righteous do?” Psalm 11:3. If you’re waiting for good to win out over evil in society, you may be in for a long wait. Things appear to be going from bad to worse. Psalm 11 was written at a time when Israel may have felt that escape was the only answer. The people feared the attacks of the enemy and sensed that the foundations of justice were crumbling. But escape is not the answer. We must refocus our thinking. If we look only at the evil in our world, we’re likely to despair and drop out. God, however, is still on His throne. He will have the last word. No matter what the world says, God’s order is being maintained. So don’t head for the hills. Trust God and keep doing what’s right. When the world around you is crumbling, God is the rock on which you can stand.
