“You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength.” Deuteronomy 6:5. Children do not learn to love and obey God only by what we say. They also learn by watching what we do. We are to teach them constantly about God and His Word. Along with what we say to our children, we need to set an example by our love and obedience to the Lord. We can’t be perfect parents, but our children must see our desire to please the Lord. And when we fall short, they need to see our repentance. We teach them by both what we say and what we do. A godly parent is a child’s best guide to God.
