9/20 Where is God When it Hurts. Job 19:23-25; Although Job deals with suffering it is more a presentation of a three phased process Job uses to work through suffering. 1. He identifies the source of his suffering. 2. He confronts his suffering. 3. He affirms his faith in the midst of his suffering. Job’s triumph was not the last chapter where God restores his wealth; Job’s triumph was the affirmation of his faith during his suffering. Job discovered God was with him in his suffering.

9/27 Our Church Robbed. Malachi 3:8-10. The people in Malachi’s day were treating God badly. Their worship had turned from relational to ritual. They offered blemished sacrifices; the priests had become unfaithful; divorce was commonplace and easy; their words wearied God; businessmen were defrauding their workers, cheating their customers and taking advantage of widows, orphans, immigrants and strangers. But the most egregious behavior was that they were robbing God. Malachi was very specific about how they were robbing God…by not paying their tithes.

10/4 Guest Speaker: Rev. David Pak, Pastor, Bethel Korean Baptist Church.

10/11 Finding Order in Chaos. Luke 24:1-11. [Please Note: This sermon was originally presented June 7, 2020 during Covid and in the wake of the rioting in Minneapolis following the death of George Floyd.] In the aftermath of George Floyd’s death, rioting, looting, destruction, and death ensued. Many had a hard time understanding and making sense of it. It begs the question, “How do you bring order out of the confusion and chaos that happens in life?” How do you make sense out of nonsense? There are three possibilities and all three are illustrated in the response of Jesus’ Disciples to the chaotic events leading up to and including Jesus’ crucifixion. From this passage Pastor Barry will bring clarity as we all try to make sense out of the nonsense in our lives.
