Matthew 6:9-13; Luke 11:1-4.  For the  past six weeks we’ve been learning to pray effectively.  Our teacher has been Jesus, who gave us a model prayer. Every phrase and petition focuses on God – His person, His attributes, and His works. It is a prayer that teaches absolute dependence on God. In this last installment we focus on the phrase Lead Us Not Into Temptation. In it Pastor Barry points out this petition is the cry of the heart that despises the potential of sin to harm and ruin our life and the lives of those we love. It is a safeguard against presumption and a false sense of security.
