James 4:13-17. The most important thing in the world is not things or money or jobs, it’s relationships – our relationship with the Lord first and then our relationships with family and friends. Unfortunately our decisions related to jobs don’t always reflect these priorities. James has apparently been listening in on a strategic planning session and is concerned about what he’s hearing…the business plan doesn’t include God. Many of us assume that if it’s a great opportunity, and we’ll make more money, and it’s upward mobility, It must be God’s will. But do those things mean it’s automatically God’s will? No! Why is planning apart from God so dangerous? James answers that question. He says bad decisions about work flow from false assumptions about life.
