Under the direction of Mrs. Jody Lovett, the Eagle Choir is made up of students in grades 4-6. These students perform in churches and public venues, including Kahala Mall and Ala Moana Center. The Eagle Choir also performs alongside the middle school and high school choirs at various performances, including the Winter Concert, Spring Concert, and the Soldiers of Light and Halau Dinner Theater. Students practice twice a week after school. First Baptist Church of Honolulu is Mrs. Lovett’s home church.
Soldiers of Light, under the direction of Todd Yokotake, is also known as HBA’s select choir, a year-long elective course open to students in grades 9 – 12. Enrollment is by audition only. The primary purpose of Soldiers of Light is Christian music ministry to various churches in the Hawaii Pacific Baptist Convention and to other evangelical Christian churches on Oahu. All enrolled students are required to perform at least once a month outside of school hours. Christianne Young, a member of Soldiers of Light, and her family are active members of First Baptist Church of Honolulu. We are especially excited to have Christianne, a senior at HBA, share her musical talents with her home church.
