“Pray without ceasing.” I Thessalonians 5:17. Many Christians associate praying with special occasions in life. We bow our heads before meals, kneel at our bedside before going to sleep, or quiet our hearts in a worship service. We also petition the Lord when we’re facing some big decision or difficult trial. Now, none of this is wrong. Yet, in today’s text the apostle Paul tells us to “pray without ceasing”. I believe he’s telling us to maintain contact with God at all times. We must learn to rely so completely upon God that we will naturally commit the large as well as the small experiences to his providential care. Knowing that He continuously works in our lives to accomplish His purposes, we will enter each new day with the consciousness that He is with us every moment.
